Od Asmodaya - Blood Hunt, lore cz. II

As a child, Asmoday knew no love. It was a monstrous lie, told to puppies not to lose hope in the world. Because no matter how bad it is, there is always love waiting for them. He spent his entire childhood fighting for his Mother's love. And when it became an obsession and broke him, he vowed to never love. Not that it was a challenge for him. His heart has always been made of stone, and no one has yet been able to melt it.
As he grew older, spending more time in society, discovering wolves and their feelings, he took a special place in several hearts. It came naturally to him. A few words of affection, a smile, accidental physical contact, soft gaze that goes on for a few blinks longer than it should. In fact, it was impossible to love him, but he did not allow others to realize it. As a wolf who was considered handsome by many, love was one of the easiest ways to get what he desired. He didn't feel bad manipulating other wolves to fall in love with him, he even enjoyed breaking their hearts, cradling their broken minds to his chest and licking the salty tears from their muzzles. He even discovered that for some, such pain was even more unbearable than the physical one.
Eden had the misfortune to run into Asmoday at the most vulnerable moment of his life. He was deprived of both hind legs in a horrific accident that killed several of his friends. He was blamed for their deaths and thrown out, forced to beg and sell his body for scraps. Before the accident, like Asmoday, he was used to breaking hearts. He was an extraordinarily handsome young wolf, with long fur like the starry, night sky, intense turquoise eyes and a voice that bent anyone's knees under their legs. Yet when he met Asmoday, his beautiful coat was filthy and matted, his voice hoarse with alcohol and hours of howls of pain and hunger, his teal eyes, sad and hopeless. He prayed to the gods, but none listened to him. They did not help, they did not end his suffering.
"Are you still alive?" one night, he heard a voice above him. It was unnaturally deep and gritty, to the point that the feverish male thought death had finally come for him.
He opened one of his tired eyes, staring into red eyes without any pupils or lids.
"Are you a demon?" he whispered, one tear streaming down his face.
The unnaturally large, pitch-black wolf laughed. His entire face was replaced with a skull, though Eden couldn't figure out if it was a mask, a flayed bone or some other abomination.
"I just might be." the black wolf purred, showing his sharp teeth in a smile.
A large piece of fresh meat fell right by Eden's mouth. Without a moment's thought, he immediately swallowed the whole thing. As he swallowed, he reflected on his stupidity.
"Was it… poisoned?" he asked.
"Of course not" the black wolf got up and walked away as if nothing had happened.

For the next few days, The Skull visited him daily, each time with a fresh piece of meat. He didn't stay to talk, he didn't expect anything in return. He would just sit next to him, throw him the meat and walk away. The next day, when the wolf reappeared, Eden stretched out his paw towards him to clumsily draw his attention as he was getting ready to leave.
"What is your name?" he asked.
The big wolf crouched down again, tilting his head and staring into Eden's eyes. He licked his teeth, before opening his mouth.
"Asmoday."
"I'm Eden."
"Pleasure to meet you, Eden" he smiled and Eden could have sworn his heart missed a beat.
The next day, Asmoday did not appear. Not the day after that. Eden had already begun to wonder about the nature of their relationship. It was just a random wolf feeding him, but there was something about his eyes, the way he spoke, the way he moved. Eden had never been attracted to males, nor had any experience with them, but this time was… different. On the third day, he looked up every few minutes to take a good look around the street to make sure he couldn't see the huge, familiar, and limping body anywhere. And finally, when he saw him, his eyes lit up and his tail began to wag happily.
As he got closer, the black wolf sped up, trotting to Eden.
"We're in a good mood, aren't we?" Asmoday smirked, and Eden immediately corrected his demeanor, clearing his throat and shifting into a more comfortable position.
"Can you stay a bit longer today?" Eden asked, not even paying attention to the piece of meat that fell next to him.
"Sure, if you insist. But first, eat. I know you didn't eat anything while I was gone" the wolf sat down, moving the meat closer.
Eden swallowed it fast, but this time not because of hunger, but to start a conversation as soon as possible. He was sure that Asmoday chuckled to himself at this view.
"Which District are you from?" Eden asked, starting the conversation that he was so eager for.
"Third one. My village is surrounded by hills and treacherous peaks" black wolf lied down, getting closer to his companion.
"I'm from the Centrum. After I got kicked out, I had no way to wander very far" he chuckled, gazing down at his lower body.
"You had an accident?" Asmoday shimmed down to look at his amputated legs.
"We were hunting in the mountains. The edge slipped under us and crushed my friends, and my legs" he responded.
Then he realized that talking about this tragedy no longer caused him such pain. But only because of who he was talking to.
"I'm so sorry, that sounds terrible" Asmoday's paw landed on his, and his heart froze in his chest.
Black wolf apologized and immediately took his paw back, laughing awkwardly.
"How long were you out on a street?" The Skull asked, suddenly sounding much more worried.
"Couple of weeks, I suppose" Eden, he lowered his head, staring at the cobblestones.
Suddenly, he felt embarrassed and disgusted. He was practically lying in his own filth, dirty and smelly. Asmoday lifted his muzzle with his huge, heavy paw, making him look into his red eyes.
"Do you need a place to stay?" the male asked.
"I would never ask for anything like that" Eden replied, truthfully.
"I know" Asmoday sighed, disappointed.
When he took his paw away, he immediately turned around, preparing to leave.
"Wait!" Eden begged, scared that the black wolf will never come back.

Asmoday helped Eden to his hideout and as soon as they were inside, he immediately headed for the bathroom. He helped the incapacitated wolf to wash himself properly and comb his matted coat, constantly engaging him with his stories. Eden listened carefully, paying attention to when the male's voice became more excited or sad, what he liked to talk about, what fascinated him. He was unconsciously jotting down a note of what to say and what to ask, so he never had to stop listening to that gravelly deep voice that sent shivers down his spine. After washing and drying him thoroughly, Asmoday put him on a comfortable mattress and covered his body with a warm blanket.
"Did you know that I could help you with your legs?" Asmoday whispered, placing his muzzle a few inches from Eden's.
The male's eyes widened in shock as he suddenly sprung up.
"Are you, fucking, for real?" he asked, unsure if this was some kind of joke.
The medics said there was no hope, that no kind of prosthetic would help him, that he would be crippled for the rest of his life. And out of nowhere, he ran into a wolf that made his heart race AND was able to fix his legs?
"I think so. Doesn't hurt to try, does it?" Asmoday laughed, sending his another iconic smile to Eden.
"I am so happy that I met you" Eden fired, and immediately fell silent.
Silence hung between them, and the atmosphere became so tense you could cut it with a knife. Eden froze, stunned by the words that had just come out of his mouth. He was telling the truth, and he was slowly realizing that he could no longer… see life without Asmoday. What would he do if he didn't see him every night, what would he do if he never heard his voice again, felt his touch? A smile appeared on the lips of the black male, but one he had not yet seen. Asmoday got closer, placing his muzzle close to Eden's ear.
"The feeling is mutual, Eden" he purred, making the smaller male tremble. "Good night."

As they spent more time together, they began to grow closer. Eden's legs had been repaired, though he wasn't quite sure how. They hunted together, went for walks in the evenings, spent every possible moment together. He didn't realize it yet, but he was becoming gradually more corrupted by him. Asmoday had won him over so skillfully that he didn't even realize when he lost his soul. It started innocently, with little pranks that were supposed to be funny. Then there were thefts, fights, kidnappings. However, Eden was so obsessed with making his companion happy, that he stopped caring about rules or consequences.
But even Eden had some limits. He realized it one night, standing in a darkened room, lit only by the flame of a lonely candle. Asmoday was standing a few steps away, over the body, from which blood was still pumping out. He was panting heavily, stained with innocent blood, and his eyes were filled with madness. Eden could have sworn the male was laughing to himself every few breaths. He stood stunned, watching as the blood flowing across the floor slowly pooled under his paws as well.
"What did you do…" he whispered, tears filling his eyes. "WHAT DID YOU DO?!"
His raised voice snapped the beast out of its strange trance. In the darkness, he saw blood-red, wild eyes boring into his soul.
The old wooden planks creaked as a huge black paw landed on them, pushing the monster towards him. There was a growl so deep it shook the whole building, before the beast lunged at him, instantly pinning him to the floor. Huge jaws opened above him with a snarl, flowing with blood and saliva that dripped straight onto his face.
"Please, don't hurt me" he whimpered, as his heart shattered.
Before his eyes stood death, the promise of suffering, the cruel fate. Only now did he see the brutal truth. He fell in love with a monster. It had never occurred to him that monsters could also be beautiful. That they could send charming smiles, fleeting glances filled with love and lust, that they could be gentle and tender. That they could whisper sweet nothings into your ears, that they could lull you to sleep, cradling you in their warm bodies.
Asmoday smiled, seeing pain and fear in Eden's eyes. Blood rushed through his veins, fueling him with excitement. Sticking out his long tongue, he licked the tears from the smaller wolf's cheeks as he trembled beneath him, sobbing as quietly as he could. As soon as he let go, Eden crawled away from him like a beaten puppy, cowering in the corner of the room. Thinking about it, it was the first time Asmoday had allowed himself to lower his mask in Eden's company. But he also knew that the male was too far gone to stand up to him.
"You don't have to be with me, you know" Asmoday stated, licking the blood from his paws.
As Asmoday disposed of the body and meticulously cleaned the hut, Eden still remained in the corner, whimpering and crying, as his body was shivering. The black wolf didn't even pay much attention to him, he didn't have to pretend anymore, since the whole truth about his nature came to light anyway. But the constant noise was starting to annoy him, especially since he wanted to get back to his lab as soon as possible.
"Stop fucking whining" he hissed finally, making Eden freeze in place, giving up even breathing.
"I- I'm sorry" a tearful muzzle emerged from a ball of fluffy fur to look him in the eyes.
"I don't need something as fragile as you. Go away."
The smaller wolf sprang up from the floor, chasing Asmoday blindly and stopping him in mid-stride. He was still a mess, but he couldn't let him go.
"Please, don't leave me. You are all I have" he begged, hugging and rubbing against the red-eyed's body.
Asmoday scoffed, rolling his eyes. He easily pushed the wolf away from him, then strode confidently towards the door again before being stopped by Eden, who clung to him desperately.
"Please. You mustn't despise me. I love you" he cried.
"Eden, let go."
"I need you. Please fix me, please make me yours. I will do anything, just… do something so that I would never doubt you. I can't live without you."
"Are you sure about it?"
"Yes. Make me better, darling."

So he did.
